Ingredients

Gather everything before you start cooking.

Main

  • 1½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off, your preference)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 6-8 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Garnish

  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare Ingredients

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Mince the garlic and chop the parsley.

    ~3 min

  2. 2

    Melt Butter and Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

    ~1 min

  3. 3

    Deglaze with Wine/Broth

Pour in the dry white wine or chicken broth and fresh lemon juice. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the liquid to reduce slightly, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

    ~3 min

  4. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the simmering sauce in a single layer. Season with kosher salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. The internal temperature of the shrimp should reach 120°F – 145°F.

    ~6 min

  5. 5

    Finish and Serve

Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the fresh chopped parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

    ~2 min
